Galician culture is rich in rituals. Water, stone, trees and fire are its main protagonists. In the VI century San Martiño de Durmio reproaches the Galicians for their paganism in "De correctione rusticorum":

"Lighting candles next to stones, trees, fountains and crossroads; what else is this if not devil worship?"
